Across the pillars

There is a gap in the market that sits exactly between two things Epignosis does: corporate behavioural training, and end-to-end school management. It is behavioural and soft-skills training built specifically for the people who run and teach in schools. Corporate training firms do not design for the classroom. Education consultancies focus on curriculum and compliance, not on how an adult in the building actually behaves under pressure. So it falls between.

The problem is rarely knowledge

Ask a group of teachers what good feedback looks like, or how to de-escalate a confrontation with a parent, or how to run a staff meeting that people leave energised by. They will describe it well. The training most schools buy adds more of this described knowledge — another INSET day, another framework.

The gap is not in knowing. It is in doing the thing, in the moment, when the corridor is loud and the day is long. That is a behavioural problem, and it responds to behavioural methods:

  • Practice, not presentation. Role-play with real scenarios from that school, repeated until the response is available under stress.
  • Spacing. Short sessions across a term, with the behaviour applied between them and reviewed — not a single day in August.
  • Observation and feedback. Someone watching the real interaction, or a recording of it, and coaching the specific adjustment.
  • The leadership layer. Heads of department and senior leaders trained first, so the corrections are modelled and reinforced rather than contradicted from the top.

Where it pays off

The situations are predictable, which is what makes them trainable:

  1. Difficult conversations — with parents, with underperforming colleagues, with students. The avoidance of these is one of the biggest silent costs in a school.
  2. Feedback between adults. Staff rooms often have warm relationships and no honest professional feedback. Both can be true; the second can be taught.
  3. Meetings and briefings. The weekly rhythm of a school is full of meetings that could inform and motivate, and mostly do neither.
  4. Campus-to-career transition support for senior students — a natural extension where a school’s own staff are equipped to run it.

Why this is an Epignosis piece of work

We bring the behavioural-training method from the corporate side and the lived understanding of school operations from the education-management side. The programme is designed by people who have stood in both rooms — and it is framed the way we frame everything: not as a fix for broken teachers, but as timely course correction for skilled professionals who were never given the structured practice.

Bring us the problem behind the reading. We will tell you honestly whether and how we can help.
